EXTRACT FROM THE BOOK
"Once upon a time, in the land of KERNOW (Cornwall), there lived a Monster. How he got there nobody knows. But in
those days the people of Penzance believed that a giant had carved the Monster out of the great granite rock which stood
outside their town. This enormous rock towered into the sky and was so lofty and hoary that it was called the Mount. All
around the Mount, as far as the eye could see, grew a thick forest, and in this forest lived the Monster.
He was no ordinary kind of Monster however. Oh, to be sure on the outside he looked every inch a fearsome and
ferocious creature for he had wicked claws and long spiky tail, not to mention a huge lumbering body. But inside he had a
heart of gold and was altogether a gentle and placid soul.
Nobody could see inside the Monster’s heart though. Nobody, that is except a good old man called Clement."
