ABOUT THE BOOK
In the far south-west of England there is an ancient and mysterious land. Cornwall (or Kernow) is its name. Bounded by huge granite cliffs that sweep down to the wild Atlantic Ocean, remote from the rest of Britain, this is a land of legend and magical beauty. Here in days of old, Cornish people proudly spoke their own Celtic language, fished the seas and mined the depths of the earth for tin. Here during long dark evenings, they whispered secrets of a world beneath the ocean, a land lost forever in the mists of time.
Set in Mount’s Bay, this is the story of that land, and its unlikely hero – a peace loving monster, who, in his effort to protect the forest kingdom that he loves (and also in the face of extreme provocation), turns into a menacing maniac with dramatic and unforeseen results.
Aided and abetted by his friends, Clement and Blue Elfin, the monster’s personal transformation is only surpassed by the catastrophic event that he unleashes. In a touching climax, his fate is sealed forever. But happily, all’s well that ends well – as you will discover if you read this story or journey to Cornwall and see for yourself, the Monster – still lurking outside Mousehole harbour, in magical Mount’s Bay.
